Remembrances: A Family Video

Over the weekend, my family held a yard sale to clear out the remaining items from my grandparents' old farmhouse outside of Hagerstown, MD. My dad was accompanied by his sisters Betty and Cheryl, along with other family members, and together we watched as depression glassware, old radios, quilts and books were passed on to other families for pennies on the dollar.

I made this short video, featuring commentary by my father and his sisters, as a way to mark this sad but special day. I hope it will serve as a reminder to all of us that when everything else is gone -- the stuff of this world: homes, gardens, furniture, dishes, electronics, paintings, magazines, books -- love will remain.

As Paul wrote in I Corinthians 13, "For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
